Sheepscot Valley Health Center has been serving the community of Coopers Mills for over 30 years. In 2010 our medical providers offered prenatal, adult, and pediatric care to 4,154 patients. Residents of many local communities including Jefferson, Somerville, Washington, Whitefield and Windsor access family healthcare close to home. Located between Maine’s capital city and the coast, the health center makes medical care accessible for people of all ages. For those who require hospitalization, we offer hospital care at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.

Throughout the years, the health center has grown considerably, requiring six medical providers to date. Growth has not deterred Roy Miller, MD, the health center’s first provider, who has been practicing at Sheepscot since it opened in 1980. Dr. Miller continues to see patients and he serves the organization’s Provider Executive Committee as well. Carol Eckert, MD joined the practice in 1982 and she also still practices at the health center.

Perched near the banks of the Sheepscot River, the health center is located in a renovated church, made possible by the dedication of local residents. Coopers Mills itself is an intimate and supportive community that provides an assortment of community activities including public suppers, seasonal celebrations, and civic events. The town is located in a scenic region of Maine where there are abundant opportunities for outdoor activities including hiking, kayaking, swimming and fishing.
